This book is a practical guide to oriental rugs generally found today. It describes and illustrates their history, colour, patterns and symbolism, and gives sound advice on the purchase and care of rugs. Sixty-five typical rugs are illustrated in colour to give the reader a comprehensive view of all the important kinds on the market. In addition to the colour illustrations there are many black and white drawings as well as maps of the chief rug areas. There is a bibliography and an index. The author is head of the rug department at Magasin du Nord, the famous Copenhagen store.
