An Artist's Notebook is a general handbook of the materials and techniques of painting and drawing.I have attempted to cover the traditional repertoire of basic tools, as well as those materials newly available to the contemporary artist. In writing the book, it was not my intention to survey current styles and trends. Rather, the chapters are designed to provide fundamental information on process -- both for the novice artist and for more experienced workers who wish to carry out their own experiments in less-familiar media.
